	Ringo Li I came to the United States in 1975. I was born in Hong Kong China. You can detect my Chinese accent even in my writing. I am in the business of customer accounting programming, web site design, networking, computer hardware and network engineering. I have been consulting small business in the Los Angeles, California for the last 18 years. My hobby include computer, electronics, photography, woodworking, metal works and astronomy. I am kind of Jack of all trade. Anything that can be taken apart, I will take it apart to see how it work. I have a garage filled with tools for metal works and wood works.
My early years in Astronomy I bought a Celestron telescope in 1980's around the time that Comet Haley flew close enough for us to see it in the night sky. It was a telescope with a 3" refracting lens. I used it to view Comet Haley, the Moon, and even the planets Saturn and Jupiter. I became fascinated, so I bought several books on astronomy. Eventually, my interest died down for several reasons. One of which was the telescope. It was a very poorly made telescope. There was free-play everywhere and accuracy was not precise. Additionally, the telescope's instructions were badly written and unhelpful. I was lucky just to get the viewfinder aligned with the telescope. Using the telescope caused so much frustration that it was no longer worth the trouble to use. Before long, the telescope was put in the corner to collect dust. ETX-90 I have always wanted an Meade ETX-90 ever since it was released into the market. After reading about it magazines for years, the Meade ETX-90EC came out with the Autostar. I thought, "Wow! That is NICE!" The price was a little high, so I didn't buy one right away. I waited for a few years to see if the price would drop. The price remained the same, mostly, but its quality improved. Then last year, the price finally did drop and I bought an Meade ETX-90EC. I bought the telescope, the tripod, hard-case and some other accessories, totaling almost a thousand dollars. I was excited. Unfortunately, much like my first telescope, the instructions included with it (and its accessories) were poor. As such, I had trouble getting it to function as advertised. To make matters worse, there was no one to ask for support. Needless to say, frustration overcame my initial excitement. But I persisted. I had spent too much money on the equipment to simply give up. I decided to go online to search for some help. Eventually, I found just about everything that I needed. With the new information, I figured out how to make everything work and developed an entire system that is precise, consistent, and easy to use. My Guide Book I have organized and compiled all of the information that I have gathered from the Internet in addition to my hard learning experience and wrote a book. This book is to help ETX/Autostar users to achieve the goal: Consistent astronomy without frustration. That is what my book is all about. With this book, you'll be just a few minutes away from enjoying star glazing This guide book is not meant to replace the official Meade manuals that are originally included with the telescope, the Autostar, and tripod. As brief and unorganized as those original manuals are, they still serve as a good reference. This guide is to supplement those manuals in the areas that are only briefly mentioned or are not integrated with each other. Products that I sell I love to tinker with "things". I have enough tools in my garage workshop to build and experiment with lot of my ideas.. I love gadgets and I love to be able to do everything easier and faster. I either buy the gadget or built it myself to make stargazing more enjoyable. Some of my idea became the products that I sell on ebay It started out when I made a Meade #505 compatible cable for myself. The Meade #505 is required to update the Meade 495 and 497 Autostar. A 505 cable is also required to connect the Autostar to a PC to control the telescope from the PC. I have been involved in electronics and computers for over 30 years, so making a 505 cable is really easy for me. The cable that I made works great. I was able to update my Autostar and control the telescope from my notebook computer. I asked myself, why don't I make more and sell them? So I started selling the 505 cables on eBay I then started making other products, first for myself and then to sell. The photo tripod adapter for the ETX telescopes is the second product… I was using my photo tripod with my ETX-90EC. As I added more and more products to sell on eBay, I was getting requests from customers. Do you have this? Do you have that? Why don't you make this? Why don't you make that? They liked my products. They were looking for more products. I found myself looking for products that can make using the ETX/Autostar faster, easier and more enjoyable. I use all the products that I sell.
